Description

On June 9, 2015, the Government of Timor-Leste’s Council for Administration of Infrastructure Fund (CAFI) provided in principle approval for a project to rehabilitate the Dili airport with support from a China Eximbank loan. However, there is no evidence that a loan agreement was ever finalized.

Additional details

As of 2019, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has completed a "Preliminary Assessment for Dili Airport Runway Upgrading Project" (See https://www.adb.org/sites/default/files/project-documents/52320/52320-001-tcr-en.pdf) which does not mention China or China Exim Bank as a possible source of financing.
