Project narrative

According to a notice for applications posted by the Chinese Embassy in Senegal, a total of 75 scholarships were issued for the 2018/2019 academic year, with 51 for Senegalese students who will continue their studies in China and 24 for Senegalese students who will be newly admitted in 2018. On August 8, 2018 the Chinese Ambassador to Senegal Zhang Xun awarded 27 Senegalese students with admission notices for the scholarship program. The amount of the scholarships for each student varies based on their admitted program with scholarships totaling from 59,200 CNY for each Bachelors students and upwards of 99,800 CNY for each PhD candidates, each student has the opportunity to study in China.

Staff comments

While the Ambassador had awarded 27 students, it was noted in the application posting that only 24 scholarships will be provided for new students - it is reasonable that this allocation has either changed, or continuing students were present at the ceremony.
