Description
In 2021 and 2022, the Chinese Government donated approximately 900,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Sierra Leone. The Chinese Government delivered 200,000 donated doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Sierra Leone on February 25, 2021. The shipment arrived at the Lungi International Airport in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Its reception was acknowledged with a handover ceremony led by Sierra Leone's Acting Minister of Health, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Chinese Ambassador Hu Zhanglang. Then, on March 1, 2021, the Chinese Government delivered another 200,000 donated doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines and 201,600 disposable needles and syringes to the Government of Sierra Leone. Then, on August 18, 2021, the Chinese Government delivered another 200,000 donated Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses, 201,600 syringes, 40,000 Novel Coronavirus Nucleic Acid Diagnostic Kits, and 50,000 Novel Coronavirus Antigen Detection Kits to the Government of Sierra Leone. The Chinese Government delivered an additional 300,000 donated Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses to the Government of Sierra Leone on July 22, 2022. The Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS) of Sierra Leone held a handover and acceptance ceremony for the donation on August 9, 2022.
