Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On May 10, 2004, the Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs countersigned Letters of Exchange that granted the Colombian government 204 musical instruments and 180 pieces of computer equipment worth 3.1 million RMB. The Letter from the Chinese Ambassador to Colombia was dated April 7, 2004. This grant would be financed through the 10 million RMB grant provided in the Letters of Exchange signed June 5, 2001 (see Record ID#86181). On March 30, 2005, the equipment was delivered. The computer equipment went to the following organizations: the Presidency, the Chamber of Senators, the House of Representatives, the Colombian Agency for International Cooperation, the National Tax and Customs Directorate, the Nariño Department Government, the Cesar Departmental Library (Rafael Carrillo Lúquez Library), the Acacías Library, the Public Welfare Service for the protection of pregnant adolescents (Fundación Procrear Mañana - ICBF), and the educational project Fundación Colombia en Paz. The musical instruments were handed over to the Ministry of Culture for the continuation of the National Music Plan for Coexistence (Plan Nacional Música para la Convivencia, project also referenced as Fortalecimiento y Creación de Bandas de Música) in 12 municipalities (Atlántico, Boyacá, Casanare, Cundinamarca, Cauca, Magdalena, Cesar, Quindío, Caldas, Meta, Córdoba, y Bolívar).
