Full Description

Project narrative

According to Chinese Government reporting to the World Food Program’s International Food Aid Information System (INTERFAIS), the Chinese Government donated and delivered 52,793 metric tons of rice (in twelve separate deliveries of 2354 tons, 4036 tons, 4924 tons, 7203 tons, 5555 tons, 4625 tons, 6268 tons, 6071 tons, 4581 tons, 2991 tons, 1508 tons, and 2677 tons) to North Korea in 2000. To estimate the monetary value of the rice donation ($13,066,267.50), AidData takes the international price of a ton of rice in January 2000 ($247.50) and multiplies it by 52,793 tons.
