Project narrative

According to Chinese Government reporting to the World Food Program’s International Food Aid Information System (INTERFAIS), the Chinese Government donated and delivered 48,489 metric tons of wheat and wheat flour (in 13 separate deliveries of 30 tons, 6528 tons, 4083 tons, 4763 tons, 5628 tons, 2360 tons, 3067 tons, 4429 tons, 4299 tons, 3657 tons, 4063 tons, 1820 tons, and 3762 tons) to North Korea in 2003. To estimate the monetary value of the wheat and wheat flour donation ($6,811,734.72), AidData takes the international price of a ton of wheat in January 2003 ($140.48) and multiplies it by 48,489 tons.
