Project narrative

According to Chinese Government reporting to the World Food Program’s International Food Aid Information System (INTERFAIS), the Chinese Government donated and delivered 28,271 metric tons of maize and maize meal (in 16 separate deliveries of 3267 tons, 2842 tons, 3263 tons, 2644 tons, 2700 tons, 1530 tons, 1293 tons, 16.86 tons, 5.62 tons, 33.72 tons, 387.78 tons, 278.752 tons, 26.976 tons, and 11240 tons) to North Korea in 2004. To estimate the monetary value of the rice donation ($3,286,221.04), AidData takes the international price of a ton of rice in January 2004 ($116.24) and multiplies it by 28,271 tons.
