Project narrative

According to Chinese Government reporting to the World Food Program’s International Food Aid Information System (INTERFAIS), the Chinese Government donated and delivered 227,532 metric tons of wheat and wheat flour (in 14 separate deliveries of 6470 tons, 4695 tons, 2487 tons, 6154 tons, 4251 tons, 8022 tons, 7065 tons, 15194 tons, 11615 tons, 8612 tons, 8036 tons, 9748 tons, 11803 tons, 123380 tons) to North Korea in 2005. To estimate the monetary value of the wheat donation ($27,934,103.64), AidData takes the international price of a ton of wheat in January 2005 ($122.77) and multiplies it by 227,532 tons.
