Description

According to Chinese Government reporting to the World Food Program’s International Food Aid Information System (INTERFAIS), the Chinese Government donated and delivered 43,833 metric tons of maize (in seven separate deliveries of 4740 tons, 2460 tons, 4350 tons, 2482 tons, 2273 tons, 5424 tons, and 22104 tons) to North Korea in 2006. To estimate the monetary value of the maize donation ($4,505,594.07), AidData takes the international price of a ton of maize in January 2006 ($102.79) and multiplies it by 43,833 tons.
