Project narrative

According to Chinese Government reporting to the World Food Program’s International Food Aid Information System (INTERFAIS), the Chinese Government donated and delivered 53,688 metric tons of maize (in 11 separate deliveries of 550 tons, 1710 tons, 1000 tons, 3780 tons, 2485 tons, 5174 tons, 3284 tons, 6346 tons, 5706 tons, 14588 tons, and 9065 tons) to North Korea in 2007. To estimate the monetary value of the maize donation ($8,867,110.08), AidData takes the international price of a ton of maize in January 2007 ($165.16) and multiplies it by 53,688 tons.
