Project narrative

On October 13, 2019, a send-off ceremony was held for 43 Gambians, mostly women, who were set to go China to undergo a six-week intensive training on Bee-keeping and Honey Processing Technology. The ceremony was attended by First Lady Barrow of Gambia, as well as the Minister of Women, Children and Social Welfare, Fatou Kinteh. The purpose of the training was to learn from and hold in-depth discussions with Chinese experts, and bring back advanced technologies and experience from China in a drive to further increase production capacity and the quality of beekeeping and honey-related products, enlarge the share of market, and reap significant business profits. This training is in line with the Gambian National Development Plan's priorities of agricultural commercialization and mechanization. This project is complete.
