Description

On June 24, 2019, the Chinese Government and the Government of the Central African Republic signed an RMB 200 million grant agreement. The proceeds of the grant were to be used for general budget support purposes. The agreement was signed by the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Cooperation, Félix Moloua, and the Chinese Ambassador to the Central African Republic, Chen Dong. President Faustin-Archange Touadéra, Prime Minister Firmin Ngrébada, some members of the government including Ministers Henri-Marie Dondra of Finance and Budget, Marie-Noël Koyara of National Defense, Sylvie Baïpo of Foreign Affairs and Pierre Somsé of Health were present at the signing of these documents.

1. The signing ceremony of the documents took place in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic. 2. At the same event, Félix Moloua and Chen Dong announced the Chinese Government would forgive RMB 20 million (1 billion CFA francs) of the CAR Governments’s repayment obligations (as captured via Project ID#86586).
