Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In late February 2018, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Sierra Leone, Wu Peng, pledged a donation of sewing machines, televisions, other equipment, and financial support from the Chinese Government while addressing a graduation ceremony for a manufacturing training class provided by the E4Impact Foundation in Lunsar. On the same occasion, Wu Peng announced that a team of Chinese experts would travel to Sierra Leone to provide related training to young people in Lunsar. The monetary value of this donation and the status of its delivery are uncertain.

Staff comments

It is unclear whether the pledged items were delivered. The Chinese government later sponsored a “2019 Sierra Leone Sewing and Embroidery Technology Overseas Training Course” (2019年塞拉利昂缝纫刺绣技术海外培训班), but the course was held Freetown rather than Lunsar (see Record ID#85821).
