Description

On April 23, 2019, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Zhou Pingjian, presented 48 Chinese government scholarships to Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) students. A ceremony was held on the university's main campus in Samaru, Zaria, Nigeria. Scholarships were granted to students with the highest CGPA in their discipline and a GPA above 4.68. Each scholarship award consisted of 100,000 naira and a certificate. According to the Chinese Ambassador, the scholarships are part of a program called the "October 1st Scholarship for China-Nigeria Friendship", and is in honor of the fact that China and Nigeria share the same date for their respective independence days.
