Project narrative
On November 15, 2018, the Chinese Ambassador to Chad Li Jinjin and Chad’s Minister of Vocational Training and Small Handicraft Industry Magidion Paja Rout signed letters of exchange for the Vocational Technical Training School Project. The Chinese Government issued an RMB 200 million grant commitment in support of the project. Then, on August 9, 2019, a project implementation agreement was signed by the Chinese Ambassador to Chad Li Jinjin and Chad’s Minister of Vocational Training and Small Handicraft Industry. On June 16, 2020, China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) awarded the project implementation contract to Zhongding International Construction Group Co. Ltd. The purpose of the project is to construct a vocational training school in N'Djamena (known as l’école de formation professionnelle de Sadjéri). On August 9, 2019, an implementation agreement was signed between Ambassador Li Jinjin of the Chinese Embassy in Chad and the Chad Minister of Vocational Training and Small Handicraft Industry. The project sees China providing aid towards the construction of the N'Djamena Vocational and Technical Training School. The project will be developed by Zhongding International Construction Group Co. Ltd., which was awarded a contract on June 16, 2020. Construction began in March 2021. However, the project has faced many difficulties related to the COVID-19 pandemic and political changes. As of October 20, 2021, the project was still under construction. The originally expected completion date of the project was the first quarter of 2022. By March 6, 2024, the project was complete (Source ID #210384).
