Full Description

Project narrative

On April 24, 2018, Ambassador to Gabon Hu Changchun and Embassy diplomats attended the Chinese Culture University opening ceremony of the Chinese Cultural Salon and Wenhui Library with a donation of books. The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture of Gabon and the Chairman of the Gabonian Chinese Students Association, the head of the Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada, the President of the African Management University, representatives of teachers and students of the school, and representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises attended the event. Afterwards, Ambassador Hu unveiled the Wenhui Library. The library bears the name Wenhui, which means "the meeting of cultures" or "the gathering of scholars". He and the guests visited the exhibition of Chinese landscape and folklore paintings displayed in the bookstore. He introduced the collection of Chinese donated books to everyone and enjoyed Chinese tea together. In addition, from 2019 onwards, the Embassy will grant two scholarships each year to the best students of the University for their studies in China.
