Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In September 2018, during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the Government of Sudan signed an RMB 200 million ($29 million) interest-free loan agreement for unspecified purposes. It is unclear whether these funds were ever disbursed and for what purpose(s).

Staff comments

1. In September 2018, the Chinese Government and the Government of Sudan also signed an RMB 400 million grant agreement. 2. The maturity length and grace period of the interest-free loan are unknown. For the time being, AidData assumes that standard MOFCOM borrowing terms (20-year maturity, 10-year grace period) apply. This issue warrants further investigation.
