Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On the President of Ecuador's six day trip to China in March 2002, the Chinese government pledged to grant a batch of musical instruments worth 1.2 million RMB. On December 12, 2003, the handover certificate for the musical instruments was signed by the Chinese Ambassador and the Ecuadorian Minister of Foreign Relations, and it was specified that the Youth Symphony Orchestra Foundation of Ecuador (Fundación Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil del Ecuador, FOSJE) would be the beneficiary of the grant. More specifically, a total of 88 individual instruments, of 26 different types, were granted, including 28 violins, 10 violas, 10 violoncellos, 8 double basses, 4 horns, 3 trombones, and many others.
