Project narrative

On July 16, 2008, the Chinese Ambassador to Ecuador, on behalf of the Chinese government, handed over a 100,000 USD grant to Ecuador's Chapter of the Binational Plan for the Development of the Ecuador-Peru Border Region (Plan Binacional de Desarrollo de la Región Fronteriza Ecuador-Perú, Capítulo Ecuador), to the account No. 020877049 del CITIBANK. The grant's purpose was to contribute to humanitarian de mining efforts, involving the removal of landmines on Ecuador's border with Peru. The grant was to be administered by the National Center for Humanitarian Demining of Ecuador (Centro Nacional de Desminado Humanitario del Ecuador, CENDESMI). Around the same time, a similar donation was provided to Peru (see Record ID#35841).
