Project narrative
On January 12, 2006, the governments of China and Ecuador signed Letters of Exchange, in which the Chinese government committed to send a medical mission to the Ministry of Foreign Relations Medical Center (Centro Médico del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores del Ecuador). At the medical center, the team was to provide medical services to different public institutions in Ecuador. The team would consist of two doctors, one an acupuncturist and the other a massage therapist, as well as an interpreter. The costs associated with the mission, including the salaries of the experts, their travel, cost of living, cost of medicines, and administrative costs would be covered by the Chinese government and were worth 720,000 RMB. Various other costs were the responsibility of the government of Ecuador. The Letters specified the team would stay in Ecuador for one year, but the start and and dates of the mission are unknown.
