Project narrative

On August 8, 2019, the 2019-2020 School Year Chinese Government Scholarship Admission Ceremony was held at the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka. 24 Sri Lankan students were awarded the Chinese Governmental Full Scholarship. The full scholarship covers tuition, lodging, living allowance, and medical insurance throughout the whole academic year, which values up to Rs. 2,500,000. Among the 24 Scholarship winners, 10 were for Bachelor's degrees and 14 for Doctoral degrees in different fields like medicine, architecture, translation, E-business, Psychology, Food Science, and Engineering, etc. The awardees will go to China in September 2019 to continue their higher education in well-known universities such as Zhejiang University, Wuhan University, and Peking University. The program was first launched in 2016 and this is the fourth iteration of Sri Lankan students to study in China. Record ID#88552 captures the Chinese Embassy's annual donation to the Sri Lanka Ministry of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs for the continuation of this program.
