Project narrative

On August 8, 2019, the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Cheng Xueyuan, hosted a ceremony to award the Chinese Government Full Scholarship to 24 Sri Lankan students and presented a cheque to the Sri Lankan Government, for a donation of Rs. 5,300,000 for the “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship” annual program 2019, awarding 106 students with Rs. 50,000 each in 2019. The "Chinese Ambassador's Scholarship Scheme" was launched in 2016 by the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Higher Education. This is the fourth consecutive year of the scholarships following scholarships for 122 students in 2018 (See Record ID#54019), 55 students in 2017 (See Record ID#53779), and 54 students in 2016 (See Record ID#53789). The 24 student scholarships in 2019 are recorded in a separate project (See Record ID#88551), as this project captures the annual donation from the Chinese Embassy.
