Project narrative

In 2017, just prior to the Expo 2017 Astana, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) donated a minibus to the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography. The minibus was set to be used by the academy to transport students to events, performances, and rehearsals. The monetary value of this donation is unknown. CNPC had previously provided $95.08 million USD for the construction of the academy, as captured by linked Record ID#73476. Later, in 2018, it donated ₸10 million KZT to the academy to finance the purchase of medical equipment, as captured by linked Record ID#73482.

Staff comments

The Expo 2017 Astana began on June 10, 2017. Sources, such as "Certificate for 10 000 000 KZT donated to the Academy", describe the donation as occurring "on the eve of the [expo]."
