Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In 2018, the Chinese Embassy in Mexico, the Chinese Cultural Center in Mexico, and the El Colegio de México, A.C. (Colmex), co-sponsored at the 2018 "Cultural China" Special Training at El Colegio de México. The trainees represented various aspects of Mexican culture, including officials, curators, museum officials, writers, editors, designers, musicians, dancers, artists, cinematographers and others involved in the film and television industry, and Mexican researchers and educators on China. The opening ceremony of the training course was held on August 11, 2018, and the training was set to end on September 8, 2018. For this training, see linked Record ID#70330. After this training, a select number of its participants, as well as 20 other Mexican trainees selected by Mexico's Secretariat of Foreign Affairs, Secretariat of Culture, and other cultural institutions were to visit China from October 11 to October 31, 2018 for the Advanced Seminar on Cultural Industry and Management, a three-week visit and training period to learn about China's cultural policies and practices, trade, and exchanges during visits to Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. This seminar is captured by this project.

Staff comments

The Chinese seminar course title was 文化产业与管理高级研修班. While it is likely this seminar was hosted, as the plans for it were firm by August 11, 2018, when the training in Mexico began, AidData has yet to identify information confirming its completion. This issue merits further investigation.
