Project narrative

On October 9, 2019, China's 20th medical team to Uganda left China for the country. On October 14, 2019, the Chinese Embassy welcomed the new team and held a farewell ceremony for the 19th team in the China-Uganda Friendship Hospital in Naguru. The team began working on the next day. The 9 team members are from Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University, Yunnan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, and Yunnan Province Infectious Disease Hospital. The doctors specialize in Head and Neck Surgeries, anesthesiology, abdominal Surgeries, Urology, colorectal surgeries, infectious diseases, and acupuncture. During their tenure, the team taught local doctors the techniques of Laparoscopic appendectomy and held lectures on acupuncture. Originally, they planned to stay for one year, but they stayed longer because of the pandemic. The team finished their tenure on January 24, 2021.
