Project narrative

On October 19, 2019, the Hainan-Cambodia Brightness Action Program sent the fifth medical team to Kompong Speu, Cambodia to carry out the fifth free clinic. The fifth batch of free clinics is composed of 37 medical experts and volunteers. The clinic will provide free diagnosis and treatment services for cataract patients in San Francisco de Macorís from October 19th to 26th. As of October 23, 2019, the free clinic team has screened 635 cataract patients and successfully performed 88 operations.

1. The Chinese project title is “海南·柬埔寨光明行”第五次义诊行动. 2. The Hainan-Cambodia Brightness Action Program ran from September 1st, 2016 to December 2019. The goal of the program was to send five medical teams to treat 1,000 patients with cataract-induced blindness across various provinces in Cambodia. The program was established when Luo Baoming, Secretary of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee, met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen in July 2016. The Hainan Provincial Government sent five medical teams to the Kampong Cham, Siem Reap, and Kampong Speu provinces in Cambodia, treating over 592 patients.
