Project narrative

A feasibility study for the Laos Post and Telecommunications Technical College Project was carried out by China’s Institute of Design Electronic Engineering in 2019. Then, on March 11, 2022, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the Government of Laos signed an RMB 85.72 million grant implementation agreement for the Laos Institute of Posts and Telecommunications Construction Project. The purpose of the project was to construct the Laos Institute of Posts and Telecommunications in Ban Watnak within Vientiane's Sisattanak District. The building was to be equipped with classrooms, laboratories, and libraries. After the end of the construction period, the Chinese side was responsible for training 312 Lao teachers. China Railway Construction Group Co., Ltd. was the contractor responsible for project implementation. It was awarded a commercial contract on March 11, 2022. Then, on April 25, 2022, construction commenced. The project was originally scheduled to reach completion within 20 months (December 25, 2023) but it was ultimately completed on May 24, 2024.
