Project narrative

On September 17 2019, Chinese Ambassador to Samoa Chao Xiaoliang met with Kosi Latu, Director General of the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), and handed over the $200,000 donation from the Chinese government to SPREP. While the amount is unknown, China has been documented stating that they will donate a total of 1 million USD to pacific island countries within a year of the donation. The primary purpose of the financial assistance presented to SPREP is to support the Secretariat in its efforts to address key priority concerns of Pacific island countries in relation to Climate Change.
