Project narrative

In 2018, the Vientiane Branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) provided grant funding for the construction of new building for Huaxieng village primary school in Vientiane Province. The handover ceremony for the new school building was held on January 5, 2019. The monetary value of this donation is unknown.

Staff comments

While "Chinese bank-funded school building handed over to local Lao community" is not explicit that the financing of this project took the form of a grant, the fact that ICBC's staff donated materials to the school and a loan would be highly unusual for this type of project, AidData has assumed this financing was a grant and coded accordingly.
