Project narrative

In 2019, the Chinese Government provided an unspecified grant to establish the Lu Ban High-Speed Railway Institute Banphai Industrial and Community Education College (BPIC) in Thailand. The institute began operations in April 2019 in coordination with Wuhan Railway Vocational College of Technology. The purpose of this project was to create a central facility for training designed to equip Thais with Mandarin-language skills and railway knowledge to maintain the Chinese-funded China-Thai High-Speed Railway. Prior to this, BPIC and Wuhan Railway Vocational College were training Thais from 33 different colleges across 20 Thai provinces. This was jointly established by Wuhan Railway Vocational College of Technology and Banpai Industrial Community Education College. This project was completed on April 3, 2019, and the institute has been running since.
