Chinese Consulate in Kuching, Malaysia provides MYR 160,000 in scholarships for Sarawak students to study in China

On 2 August 2019, the Consul General of China in Kuching, Malaysia, Cheng Guangzhong, announced the recipients of 16 Chinese-funded scholarships for students from the Malaysian state of Sarawak to attend universities in China. The Consulate announced that the MYR 160,000 scholarships were awarded to 14 Chinese and 2 ethnic Malay students in Sarawak from Chung Hua Middle School (CHMS) No. 1. The Consulate emphasized the shared value of education to both the Chinese and Malaysian government, and reaffirmed China's commitment to welcome students with "high-level Chinese". The scholarship was open to applicants in January 2019, and was emphasized to be open to students of all ethnicities.
