Full Description

Project narrative

According to a report from the Chinese Embassy in Argentina, on November 27, 2019, the Embassy of China in Argentina and the Buenos Aires City Council held an unveiling ceremony for a Confucius statue donated by Shandong Gold Group to the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Chinese Embassy in Argentina was in charge of all the expenses caused by the placement of the sculpture and the plaque. The statue is 2.5 meters high and made of bronze. The project was supervised by the China Confucius Foundation (Chinese: 孔子基金会), and the statue was placed in the Sicily Square (Spanish: La Plaza Sicilia) of February 3rd park (also known as the Bosques de Palermo) in Buenos Aires. It was accompanied by a plaque which explains the statue. Buenos Aires City Council Speaker Forcelli stated that the statue of Confucius will not only become a beautiful scenery in the culture of Buenos Aires, but also contribute to enhancing the understanding of the people of Argentina and China and promoting the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
