Full Description

Project narrative

On October 16th, 2019, the inauguration and handover ceremony of the National Geographic Laboratory assisted by China in Cambodia was held in Kampong Chhnang Province, Cambodia. On September 19, 2015, at the China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum, China and Cambodia signed the "Cambodia National Geological Laboratory Construction Cooperation Agreement". This project was proposed by the leaders of the Ministry of Land and Resources of China at the China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum in May 2012. After three times of site selections and more than five years of communication and negotiation, the project finally implemented. The project was approved by the People's Government of the Autonomous Region of Guangxi in September 2017 and agreed to invest 16.05 million yuan in project construction funds. The required funds were incorporated into the 2017-2019 departmental budget of the Guangxi Department of Land and Resources, and the Guangxi Bureau of Geology and Minerals was responsible for implementation. The total construction area of the laboratory is 3035.86 square meters, of which the testing building is 2248.12 square meters, the dormitory building and other living facilities are 465.12 square meters, and other facilities are 322.62 square meters. The lab is equipped with 22 sets of various testing equipment, sample preparation equipment, waste gas, waste water and dust treatment facilities. After the laboratory is completed, Cambodia will have a relatively complete geological sample detection capability, which can meet the detection of conventional non-ferrous metals, precious metals, ferrous metals, non-metals and other geological samples and 1:50,000 regional geochemical samples.
