Project narrative

On October 9th, 2018, the Chinese humanitarian aid in response to the earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi Indonesia landed in Balikpapan. The supplies donated included tents, water purifiers, fogging equipment, generators, and other disaster relief assistance. At 6:02pm on September 8th, 2019, an earthquake of 7.4 magnitude hit the Central Sulawesi area and later caused a tsunami that continued the damaged in the area. According to the Indonesia National Disaster Relief Agency, as of October 9, the natural disaster has caused 2,010 deaths, 82,775 people forced to relocated, 67,310 houses destroyed, and 2,736 schools have been destroyed as well. Chinese President Xi sent his condolences to Indonesia President Widodo, and expressed that China is with the Indonesian people and help Indonesia through the rebuilding process.
