On October 25, 2019, during the China-Brazil Business Forum, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and the Federal University of Goiás (Universidade Federal de Goiás, or UFG) signed an "Agreement on Cooperative Establishment of the Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Federal University of Goiás", which provided for the establishment of a Confucius Institute at the University. The new Confucius institute collaborated with the Hebei University of Chinese Medicine. The goals of the Institute include Chinese language teaching, spreading traditional Chinese medicine, and building relationships between the peoples of Brazil and China.
