Project narrative

On October 24, 2007, Learning and Teaching Scotland and the Confucius Institute Headquarters signed a Letter of Co-operation Intent to set up Confucius Classrooms in Scotland. On October 22nd, 2010, Learning and Teaching Scotland and the Confucius Institute Headquarters signed an agreement to establish the Learning and Teaching Scotland Confucius Institute. The institute's cooperating institution is the Tianjin Municipal Educational Commission. The institute is the first Confucius Institute to be initiated at the government level. In total, the institute created 9 Confucius Classroom hubs. In March 2012, Learning and Teaching Scotland ceased operations due to a reorganization of the Scottish Government's educational institutions. As a result, the institute was transferred to the University of Strathclyde and renamed the Confucius Institute for Scotland's Schools. The new institute is tracked under Record ID#44297.
