Project narrative

In 2021 and 2022, the Chinese Government donated approximately 200,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Vanuatu. The Chinese Government delivered 20,000 donated doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Vanuatu on June 7, 2021. The plane that brought the vaccines to Vanuatu was the first two-way direct passenger flight between Vanuatu and China in the history of their relations. Then, on November 7, 2021, the Chinese Government delivered 80,000 donated doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines and 80,000 syringes to the Government of Vanuatu. The Chinese Government delivered an additional 100,000 donated Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses, 102,400 syringes and 10,000 rapid antigen detection reagants to the Government of Vanuatu on April 23, 2022. This donation aimed to help Vanuatu combat outbreaks of community transmissions through the country.
