Project narrative

On April 29th, the handover ceremony of 20 school buses donated by the Chinese government to Kiribati was held in Tarawa, the capital of Kiribati. Chinese ambassador Tang Songgen and Kiribati Minister of Education Thibaud attended the ceremony. The school buses will be distributed among the 13 outer islands of Kiribati to help students with difficulties in the daily commute from home to school. The donation will improve the education level of the outer islands, promote the development of basic human resources, and help the government of Kiribati to implement its "20-year development plan". The buses are from the Foton brand, a Chinese company which specializes in commercial vehicles. The monetary value of the buses is unknown.
