Full Description

Project narrative

On October 22nd, 2020, Chinese ambassador Tang Songgen and Mr. Birati Titon, the officer in charge of the Ministry of Education (MOE) as well as 50 other guests attended the opening ceremony of the Chinese corner in the Kiribati National Library and Archives (KNLA) in Bairiki. The Chinese corner is a designation portion of the KNLA that will house information and content on Chinese culture for Kiribati students. The Chinese Embassy donated books, audio-visual materials, desks, and computers to KNLA for use in the Chinese corner. The stated purpose of the Chinese Corner was to help Kiribati's students with their studies and highlight the educational partnership between China and Kiribati, as well as to provide a space to hold Chinese cultural activities.
