Project narrative
On February 23rd, 2022, the first batch of anti-pandemic emergency supplies donated by the Chinese government to Kiribati arrived at the airport in the capital Tarawa in a Chinese government chartered plane. Chinese Ambassador to Kiribati Tang Songgen, Kiribati Minister of Health and Medical Services Tinte Itinteang, and Minister of Internal Affairs Boutu Bateriki received the supplies at a handover ceremony. This batch of supplies includes 500 oximeters, 5 monitors, 5 injection pumps, 4 electrocardiograph machines, 2 ultrasonic diagnostic systems, masks, and personal protective equipment (PPE). The stated purpose of the donation was to be a symbol of consistent effort by both governments in public health and the determination of both governments to eliminate the negative socio-economic impact caused by the pandemic. The 2nd batch anti-pandemic emergency supplies, including masks, personal protective equipment (PPE), hand sanitizers and tents, arrived on 03/24/2022 [Captured in Record ID#90057].
