On June 16, 2020, the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia donated 20,000 disposable medical masks to the city of Klang in Selangor, Malaysia, on behalf of Klang's sister city, Urumqi, which is located in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China. The monetary value of the donation is unknown. The Chinese city of Urumqi and the city of Klang in Malaysia became sister cities on August 12, 2020. According to the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, the cities have exchanged resources in the fields of science and technology, people-to-people relationships, and cultural exchanges.
