Project narrative

In late March 2020, the China Huadian Hongkong Company Ltd. granted a first batch of medical supplies for COVID-19 relief to Indonesia, which included 256,000 disposable masks, 2,000 N95 masks, 60 thermometers, 150 liters of disinfectants, 500 sets of protective suits, 500 medical goggles, and 500 pairs of medical gloves. The value of the donation was reported to be RMB 1.25 million, and weighed nine tons. This donation was picked up at Pudong International Airport in Shanghai by 18 members of the Indonesian Military (TNI), who arrived on March 21 on a Hercules C-130 aircraft. The aircraft departed on March 24, 2020, and arrived back at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta on March 26. It was to be distributed by the Indonesian Military and the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises to Indonesia Army Hospitals, PLN, PTBA and relevant institutions, and the other to local government in the region where the project is located for anti-epidemic need. This donation was given due to a request by China Huadian's trading partner, the Indonesian state-owned coal company Bukit Asam Tbk PT (PTBA). This donation was planned to be given in two batches. The grant for the second batch of supplies is catalogued in Record ID#90300.
