Full Description

Project narrative

On July 26, 2018, the Macedonian Ministries of Health and of Labor and Social Policy submitted a proposal for a health and social protection project to be implemented with Chinese grant aid committed under the Economic and Technical Agreement (ETCA) signed between the two countries in December 2017. Then, on December 25, 2019, the Chinese Government and the Government of North Macedonia signed an exchange of letters for the project titled 'Strengthening the capacities of the health and social protection services in the Republic of Macedonia.' Under the agreement, the Chinese Government provided a grant worth RMB 30,000,000. Specifically, the grant will fund the purchase of 104 vehicles and equipment for emergency medical services, as well as the improvement of services for home visits in the healthcare sector. The agreement was signed by Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs Bujar Osmani in the role of National Coordinator for Foreign Aid and Chinese ambassador Zhang Zhuo. Additionally, it was signed alongside another exchange of letters for scientific research funding (captured via Record ID#90377). Both projects fall under the December 2017 Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) signed by the Government of North Macedonia and the Chinese Government (captured via Record ID#85196).
