Project narrative

On November 12th 2020, the government of Sichuan Province in China donated 20,480 protective masks to Jamaica in a virtual handover ceremony in Kingston. The purpose of this donation, according to Tian Qi, the Ambassador in Jamaica, is to assist Jamaica in fighting against the pandemic. Tian Qi, Ambassador to Jamaica, Carmina Johnson-Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, Desmond McKenzie, Minister of Local Government and Community Development of Jamaica, and Fan Jianghong, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy, attended the event. McKenzie said that the donation would benefit approximately 1,600 residents and 400 workers in 15 infirmaries across Jamaica.
