Project narrative

The Confucius Classroom at Hawes Side Academy was established on March 17, 2017. The Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) awarded the Confucius Classroom status in recognition of the school's achievements in Chinese language and culture education, providing Hawes Side Academy with a grant to enable it to have weekly Chinese language and cultural lessons to all children from Year 1 to Year 6. The Confucius Classroom also provides outreach work to seven local primary and secondary schools. The Confucius Classroom was running before it was officially opened. The original Confucius Institute project is tracked under Record ID#44308.
