Description

On January 28, 2015, Venezuelan participants within “Misión Milagro” attended an ophthalmic training workshop directed by Chinese specialists. During the workshop, Jorge Arreaza, the Executive Vice President of Venezuela (from 2013-2016), announced the arrival of 683 ophthalmic medical devices worth USD 41 million, in addition to 45,800 medical supplies donated by the Government of China. Among the equipment, there will be equipment to adjust corrective lens formulas and evaluate visual acuity. The equipment will be distributed among 27 medical centers. In addition to the 683 ophthalmic devices, the specific worth of the additional 45,800 supplies remains unknown. Since 2004, Misión Milagro's program has focused on bringing ophthalmic medical attention to treatment centers and communities in need. The equipment donated will be used within Venezuelan medical centers and operated by Misión Milagro Venezuelan technicians.
