Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

The Confucius Classroom at Kingsford Community School started running on July 6, 2007. The Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) awarded the Confucius Classroom status in recognition of the school's achievements in Chinese language and culture education, providing Kingsford Community School with a grant. The Confucius Classroom was awarded the Best Confucius Classroom in the World 2012. There is an annual exchange program with Peking University Affiliated Middle School in China. A MoU on bilateral exchange was signed between Kingsford Community School and Peking University Affiliated Middle School in China on December 19, 2012. This Confucius Classroom is one of the first five Confucius Classrooms to be established in the United Kingdom. The other four pioneer Confucius Classrooms are at Calday Grange Grammar School, Djanogly City Academy, Hummersknott School & Language College, and Katharine Lady Berkeley's School. The original Confucius Institute project is tracked under Record ID#44315.

Staff comments

1. AidData has coded Peking University and Affiliated High School of Peking University as the implementing agencies because they are the Chinese partner institutions for the Confucius Institute at the UCL Institute of Education, which oversees this Confucius Classroom. 2. The Chinese name of the school is 金斯福德社区学校.
