Project narrative

In November 2019, Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Cambodian Ministry of Environment signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Cooperation for a Low-Carbon Test Pilot Project signed in Preah Sihanouk province. On December 21, 2020, Chinese ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian handed over equipment for reducing carbon dioxide emissions with a total value of USD 3 million to the Cambodian Minister for the Environment, Say Sam Al. The equipment includes 2,800 solar street lights, 200 solar panels, 200 electric motorcycles, photovoltaic power generation systems, and 20 sets of tools for air quality control. The handover was completed on behalf of the Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment whom, through Shenzhen Spark Co Ltd, provided the supplies. As of May 21, 2021, Cambodia now has 49 air quality gauges installed nationwide and is preparing to deploy additional equipment to increase the efficiency of data collection regarding air quality. On May 10, 2021, a shipment from China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment arrived consisting of 10 air quality monitoring stations and 10 volume and vibration measuring gauges, along with other equipment.
