Project narrative

On March 29, 2022, Deng Boqing, the Vice-Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), attended the departure ceremony of a new shipment of 5 million doses of China-donated COVID-19 vaccines to Cambodia. This donation appears to be a portion of the 20 million vaccines pledged to Cambodia by President Xi Jinping earlier in March 2022. The vaccines arrived in a batch of 1.5 million on March 29, 2022 at Phnom Penh International Airport in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and another of 3.5 million on March 30, 2022 on 2 additional planes. The monetary value of this donation is 90 million USD. In 2021 and 2022, the Chinese Government donated approximately 11.3 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Cambodia.
