Project narrative

On May 8, 2020, the Chinese Embassy in Ecuador handed over a donation of medical supplies from Guangdong Province to the Government of the Guayas Province in Ecuador. The donated supplies included 50,000 protective masks, 10,000 surgical masks, and 520 protective suits. The donation is intended to provide aid against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Supplies will be distributed both to medical staff and to the general public across the 25 cantons and 29 parishes in the province. A portion of the supplies were to be included in food kits, which were assembled and distributed by the Guayas provincial government A handover ceremony was held for this donation at the provincial government's collection center in Catholic University of Guayaquil (Universidad Catolica Santiago De Guayaquil). Zhang Tao, the Consul General in Guayaquil, and Carlos Luis Morales, the Governor of Guayas Province, attended the ceremony.
